Spotlight Kenya is built on Google's E-E-A-T standard — Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness. We are not a scraped aggregator and we do not auto-import from third-party feeds. Every single business that appears in our directory has been physically visited and inspected by a named Kenyan editor who lives and works in the community they cover.
Our lead Nairobi curator, Grace M., personally walks into the gyms, dog-friendly cafés, boutique studios, and industrial suppliers we list — she confirms the street address, photographs the venue, verifies opening hours, and interviews the owner or duty manager before a listing is ever published. She is supported by regional reviewers across pet travel, hospitality, and B2B procurement, each with a named byline on the listings they have personally audited.
Verified listings receive a follow-up audit every 90 days. If a venue moves, changes ownership, or stops meeting our editorial bar, we revoke the Verified Local badge until the next inspection. This is what "locally curated, human-verified" actually means — a smaller catalog you can act on with confidence.
2. On-site physical inspection
An accredited reviewer (e.g. Grace M., Nairobi Fitness Writer) visits the business in person — verifies the address, photographs the venue, and confirms hours.
3. Owner interview & documentation
Our reviewer interviews the owner or manager, confirms pricing in KES, and collects evidence of any claimed certifications, licences, or affiliations.
4. Continuous audit
Verified listings receive a follow-up audit every 90 days. If a venue changes substantially we revoke the Verified Local badge until the next inspection.
